Day 25 – March Meet The Maker 2020 – How It’s Made

Tote bags are my newest make and one I am still perfecting. They are created using dye-sublimation which is done by…

  1. Printing out the design onto sublimation paper and using sublimation ink
  2. Sticking this design to the surface using heatproof tape
  3. Using a heat press to transfer the design
  4. Quickly removing this paper to prevent ghosting or bleeding using heatproof gloves

Seems simple enough but I haven’t quite managed to get a technique which means I never get any ghosting, I have been advised to use a spray adhesive for fabrics instead so that is what I am going to try out ASAP ?
